Regulations for hunting Black Bear in New Jersey
Black bear hunting in New Jersey is restricted to designated Bear Management Zones. Segment A allows archery and muzzleloader. Segment B allows shotgun and muzzleloader. A Black Bear Hunting Permit is required in addition to a valid hunting license. Permits are zone-specific; maximum 2 unfilled permits in different zones. Baiting is prohibited (no weapon within 300 ft of bait). Dogs may not be used to pursue bears. All harvested bears must be brought to an official check station on the day of harvest.
